Hi-Quality Waste Facility

Sarjaro were engaged by Hi-Quality to provide water management solutions which involved the design, construction, mobilisation, setup, commissioning, operation and maintenance of one (1) bespoke multi-barrier water treatment plant to manage PFAS contaminated wastewater. Although the plant is to remove PFAS, the wastewater received often contains a wide range of contaminants including hydrocarbons, suspended solids, metals, BTEXN, BOD, COD and nutrients. Our WTP design enables removal of these contaminants prior to the specialised filtration media, specific for PFAS, and is compliant to conditions of the site Environmental Authority (EA), stipulated by the Department of Environment and Science (DES).

Due to the complexity of the untreated wastewater, Sarjaro manage each batch separately, performing bench scale trials to assess the optimal chemical dosing regime using a proprietary blend of powdered
activated carbon, coagulants, flocculants and pH correction. The water passes through a range of specialised filtration media to systematically reduce contaminants and primarily PFAS concentrations to below trace level limit of reporting (<0.001 - <0.005 ug/L). Sarjaro have successfully treated 0.7 Million litres of contaminated water, demonstrating 100% compliance in meeting the EA treatment conditions. Our client and the regulator (DES) have continued confidence that the wastewater treated by Sarjaro is treated to the stringent criteria.
